Ukrainians' eligibility to travel for free on our trains continues until the end of April

The free travel right granted for Ukrainian nationals will be waived at the end of this month. From the start of May, Ukrainians will need a ticket to travel on trains. Ukrainian passport holders have had a right to travel for free in our long-distance and commuter (D, G, M, O, R, T, Z) trains since March 2022 by presenting a valid passport at ticket inspection.

We are aligning our policy concerning the free travel right of Ukrainian passport holders with other public transport providers. From the start of May, Ukrainian nationals will need a ticket to travel in our long-distance and commuter trains in accordance with HSL's similar change already in November last year.

In addition to the free travel right, we have supported Ukrainians by donating 160 000 € to humanitarian help in Ukraine in March 2022.

Ukrainians will be provided with information about the change in their own language

We do our best to provide Ukrainians information in Ukrainian. The conductors have been given a paper print with information about the change in Ukrainian that can be shown to Ukrainian travelers already before the change.

Voit lukea tiedotteen ukrainaksi tästä.

Further, we are collaborating with organizations helping Ukrainians to deliver the message to on time.
