We will cancel some Pendolino services in Vaasa from February 7 to 13 March

Due to the sudden removal from traffic of one Pendolino train and the increased maintenance needs caused by a long period of frost, we will have to reduce traffic from February 7 to 13 March.

We are forced to make cancellations between Vaasa and Seinäjoki, where several services are run on the Pendolino train. There will also be individual cancellations between Helsinki and Vaasa. By reducing traffic in a controlled manner in advance, we ensure that traffic will flow better overall and that sudden traffic interruptions will be avoided.

How do I know if my train has been cancelled?

We will contact you by email if you have a ticket for a cancelled train and you have provided your contact details while buying the ticket. We will automatically reserve a seat for you on another train. You will receive an email and a push notification in the app (if you have allowed them) which will give you further instructions. You can accept the proposed journey and you will receive a new ticket in your email and in the app. If you wish, you can also select another train by logging in to your VR account at vr.fi and editing my journey or searching for a refund for the full price of the journey.

Where can I check the cancelled train services?

You can check the cancelled train services on the travel search on vr.fi or the VR Matkalla app. The services for which you can buy a ticket will run normally. If a train service is cancelled, that service will be removed from the journey search. We will also update the cancelled train services on the Disruptions page, Opens in a new tab on vr.fi in advance, no later than the day before departure.

What happens to season tickets and multi-tickets?

If you have a season ticket or a multi-ticket with Vaasa or Tervajoki as the departure or destination station, we will extend the validity of your ticket by 35 days. We will automatically extend the validity period of the tickets, and you do not need to take any action.

Do you have any questions?

Our customer service will be happy to help you map out the options. You can contact us via the chat on the vr.fi website or in the VR Matkalla app, or by phone at tel. 0100 3232 (price EUR 0.06/min + mobile call charge/local network rate), waiting on hold is subject to a charge.

We apologise for any inconvenience this situation may cause.
