Events in Finland are always just an ecological train ride away. On the train, you can already tune into the mood of a gig, concert, festival, or any other event along the way. If needed, we arrange extra carriages or even entire additional services for events, making travel by rail as smooth as possible.

Gig, concert, festival, or sports event on your calendar? Whatever the destination, the train takes you there comfortably!
Here are just a few reasons why the train is the best way to travel to events:
- The experience begins on the way. Get into the event mood in the restaurant car or enjoy the ride in your own compartment with friends.
- No parking hassle. Major events often cause traffic jams, and finding parking can be a struggle. By arriving by train, you save on parking fees and avoid potential fines!
- Flexible travel. For big events, we add extra carriages or entire train services so everyone can get to festivals and back home smoothly. Onboard, you’ll also find additional services and travel classes to match your needs, such as Ekstra Relaxed, Ekstra Calm, and private compartments.
- Better for the environment. Travelling by train is a more climate-smart choice than by car, making every train journey a climate act.
Events Await! Tips for a Successful Train Journey
Heading to a festival? Hop on the train! Here are some tips for your trip to unforgettable events:
- Check extra train schedules. We add special services timed to match the end of events, so you can return home easily.
- Buy your celebratory drinks onboard. Remember, alcohol may only be consumed if purchased from the restaurant car or trolley.
- Arrive seamlessly with door to door services. Continue from the station to the venue by local bus, taxi, or rental car. Local bus tickets can be bought in advance via the VR Matkalla app.
- Set the mood on the way. On the outbound trip, enjoy the anticipation, and on the way back, relax and unwind – maybe even nap.
- Check for onboard entertainment! On some event trains, we arrange entertainment for the journey. If you’re headed to a festival, certain extra trains even allow you to exchange your festival wristband onboard.
- Start your trip with a full stomach. Visit the restaurant car, or order meals directly to your seat so you’ll be ready to head straight to the venue. In trains with a restaurant car, you can order to your seat through the VR Matkalla app.
- Charge your phone en route. Keep your devices powered up during the trip so you don’t waste festival time looking for outlets.
