You will be able to learn more about the new commuter train on the On Track tour in Tampere, Hämeenlinna and Riihimäki on Saturday, 13 June, and in Lahti and Helsinki on Sunday, 14 June.
At the tour events, everyone will be able to learn more about the commuter train with an urban atmosphere at different stations. There will be music played by a DJ, spontaneous dance performances and nice little presents! The luckiest can also win a unique VR On Track tour shirt from the event’s prize wheel.

New trains begin running in late summer
Sm7 trains will be in service starting in late summer on lines R, M, D, Z, and T.
The new commuter train is
Adaptable
- Space for up to 700 passengers with standing room – twice as much as in the older commuter rolling stock
- Seats for 340 passengers in the winter season and for 320 passengers in the summer
- More bicycle spaces during the summer season
- Adaptable interiors make it possible to take into account different passenger groups and travel needs

- At the ends of the train, there are spaces that are particularly suited for working where the seats are equipped with folding tables

Adaptable spaces
The interiors of the Sm7 train are adaptable and modern, and they can be adapted to the season. In the summer, there is more space on trains for transporting bikes than in the winter season.

Good news for those who travel to work by commuter train! At both ends of the train, there are compartments where seats are equipped with folding tables that make working easier.
