Restaurant cars and station ticket offices are temporarily closed

We follow the guidelines of the Finnish government and close restaurant cars and ticket offices.

In accordance with the Finnish government guidelines concerning the coronavirus situation we will close our restaurant cars and restaurant services at the stations for the time being. Restaurant cars in night trains will stay open for cabin and seat deliveries. Robert’s Coffee and Hesburger at the Helsinki Central Railway station will stay open for take away sales.

We do our best to ensure the safety of our customers and personnel and to prevent the pandemic from spreading. Hence, we will also temporarily close our station ticket offices located in Helsinki, Järvenpää, Hyvinkää and Tampere. Tickets may be bought from our other channels: vr.fi, VR Matkalla mobile app, ticket vending machines, VR customer service telephone: 0600 41 900 (2 € / answered call + lnc/mcc), (Mon–Fri 5–22, Sat–Sun and public holidays 7–22) and R-kiosks.

All long-distance train tickets can be easily changed. Changes can be done free of charge to journeys that’ll take place between Feb 20 and April 39 2021 (normally the change fee is 5 €). Also changes to CarTrain journeys that will take place between Feb 20 and April 30 2021 can be done minimum 3 days prior to departure (normally 7 days.) More information about ticket changes
