Welcome to our renewed website! In addition to this new website, we have released a completely new app, VR Matkalla, which already makes train travel smoother for almost half a million Finns. On the stations you are served by our new, easy-to-use ticket vending machines.

Changing website

We have renewed this website, and we are continuously improving and developing its content and services. Your feedback is important to us, and we would be very happy if you could tell us what you like and what still needs improvement.

VR Matkalla app

The new app offers personalised services to you at every stage of your journey. You can download this travel companion to your phone for free from App Store or Google Play. App users have access to convenient benefits.

New ticket vending machines

Brand new ticket vending machines will serve you at stations. The vending machines have an even bigger screen and they are quick and easy to use. We have also taken the needs of special groups into account in the design of the vending machines.

VR Matkalla is your best travel companion

The VR Matkalla app will help you at every stage of your journey.

Answers to the most frequently asked questions

The Veturi loyalty programme and the name itself will be gradually phased out, and Veturi will not be included in the new website or app. However, you can still use your Veturi username to sign in to all of our digital sales channels.

We will gradually turn the Veturi loyalty programme into a VR customer account system that will serve you even better. When you sign in, you can find your tickets, receipts and journeys on our website, in the My tickets section. This information is also available in the VR Matkalla app. Naturally, you can also buy tickets through our website without signing in.

In addition, the app also acts as your loyalty card. At the beginning, the Messages section will contain tasty special offers from the restaurant car, which you can use by showing the app at the restaurant car’s checkout. We will add more great benefits in the future.

On this website you can now find both multi-tickets and single tickets with additional services. The renewed season ticket is now available in the VR Matkalla app, just create a user name and download the app.

Some of our services, like the night train cabins, CarTrain packages, corporate services and tickets to Russia are still available only in our old webshop. We will guide you to the right place on our pages. We are developing our services step by step, and also these features will be available in the new channels in the future.

If you have a pdf- or mobile ticket from the old webshop, you can use it normally on the train. Also your old multi-ticket trips can be used up in the old webshop.

Our new sales channels are not completely ready yet. We constantly work to develop the channels, and new features and products will be added when they are ready. We recommend updating the VR Matkalla app when new updates are available.

We are gradually phasing out old sales channels and apps. When we release something new, we can close something old.

The old website vr.fi has been renewed. Also the old mobile app VR Mobiili does not work anymore, and we recommend you to create a user name and download the new VR Matkalla app.

We have also closed the old commuter traffic services, the beta.vr.fi website and the VR Lähijunat app. You can buy tickets for commuter trains through the VR Matkalla app and on this website.

Our new services have been designed to be easy to use and to meet current needs. Our new colour palette is fresh and the services have been designed to be accessible.

Did you know?

At this point, many kilometres’ worth of code has already been written for the new website, and more is coming. It’s a lot of work, but we can get through this!

The update also gave VR a younger and fresher look. Travelling with us is easy, pleasant and comfortable. As the cornerstones for each successful train trip are ease and convenience, our digital services should also be easy and convenient to use.
