Welcome to Rovaniemi

If you are looking to discover the magic of Lapland, Rovaniemi is a great place to start. It is, after all, Santa Claus’ hometown. You can even pay him a visit at Santa Park, or if peace and tranquility is more what you’re after, trek on to the wilderness and just breathe in some fresh Arctic air.

Santa's hometown is full of things to see and do!

The sights and places to visit in Rovaniemi are easy to reach on foot, and the outdoor recreation opportunities offered by nature in Lapland begin immediately outside the centre.

The busy pedestrian street and the business centre that spreads around it are full of services: three shopping centres as well as specialty shops and a versatile range of cafés and restaurants guarantee that everyone will have fun. The youngest in the family will feel at home in the Angry Birds Activity Park, and a stone's throw away in the centre there is the Ounaskoski beach where everyone can take a dip in the River Kemijoki.

The outdoor recreational area of Ounasvaara is located just a couple of kilometres from the centre of Rovaniemi. Trails and forests of the area can be explored either on foot, or by mountain bike, for instance, nor is it unusual to see reindeer, even in the summer. The summit if Ounasvaara is also an excellent place to admire the midnight sun.
