Trains do not run between Helsinki and Tampere on Saturdays 10.11.–8.12.2018

Most long-distance trains between Helsinki and Tampere will not run on Saturdays 10.11.–8.12 due to safety equipment renewal by The Finnish Transport Agency. Riihimäki-Tampere commuter trains will not run either. We will transport our customers by bus. See timetables of the buses below. Please note that Saturday changes also affect ticket sales.
 

The interruption affects trains between Helsinki and Tampere as well as trains between Tampere and Turku. Interruption also affects commuter trains between Tampere and Riihimäki.

Trains from Tampere run normally to the west, north and east. Trains between Helsinki and Turku will run normally. Please note that the bus timetables are not the same as the train timetables.

Cancelled trains

  • The majority of the long-distance trains Helsinki–Tampere–Helsinki are cancelled

  • Commuter trains Riihimäki–Tampere–Riihimäki are cancelled

 

Operating trains

  • IC 22–29 trains and night trains will run on a partly diverging timetable (and train numbers)

  • Commuter trains Helsinki–Riihimäki–Helsinki run normally

 

Buses

Please note that the bus timetables are not the same as the normal train timetables. Buses run as follows:

  • Fast bus connection Helsinki–Tampere–Helsinki with no stopovers every hour

  • Bus connection Riihimäki–Tampere–Riihimäki every hour. The bus stops in Hämeenlinna, Toijala and Lempäälä. This bus connects you with the Helsinki–Riihimäki–Helsinki R commuter trains.

  • A bus connection Riihimäki–Tampere–Riihimäki that stops at every station runs every two hours. This bus connects you with the Helsinki–Riihimäki–Helsinki R commuter trains.
     

Tickets on the exception Saturdays

There are also exceptions in the ticket sales. VR’s commuter services area reaches from Helsinki to Tampere. If a customer travels inside this area, it is possible to purchase a bus ticket from the VR Commuter application, beta.vr.fi, R-kioski or the station ticket sales.

If the journey continues past the commuter services area from Tampere or Helsinki, you can purchase a ticket from all VR ticket sales channels as usual. A season or multi-ticket is also valid on the bus.

Please note that on exception Saturdays only taxis and buses can drive to Tampere’s station square (the parking lot in front of the station) from 5am to 11pm.

 

Effects of railroad work for customers using wheelchairs

Due to railroad work, some train services will be operated by buses with no accessible services.

Therefore, if you use a wheelchair and your train has been replaced with the bus service and there is no suitable train as a replacement, we will offer you a taxi service.   • Helsinki: Postikatu bus stop by Asema-aukio square (next to the Postitalo building)

  • Riihimäki: Next to the Travel Centre, near the station taxi rank

  • Ryttylä: Junction of Kirkkotie and Ryttyläntie, by K-Market Saarinen

  • Turenki: The station parking lot on the Hämeenlinna/northern side

  • Hämeenlinna: In front of the station building

  • Parola: In front of the station, Asemantie side

  • Iittala: From the train station’s parking lot at the western side of the tracks

  • Toijala: The parking lot in front of the station

  • Viiala: From the train station’s parking lot, alongside Rautatienkatu, eastern side of the tracks

  • Lempäälä: Bus stop in front of the train station, near Asematie and Lempäälä's Aleksi
