Tickets for rail services between Finland and Russia are sold in Finland in addition to major VR stations in travel agencies. Tickets cannot be bought in VR Online Shop or onboard the train.
How to buy tickets
Tickets to trains between Finland and Russia are also sold in Finland in several travel agencies and at major VR stations. Please note! Tickets for trains between Finland and Russia cannot be purchased in VR Online shop or onboard the train.
Travel and seat tickets for trains between Finland and Russia are always sold together. Seat booking is mandatory on the trains. Tickets may be booked eight weeks before the travel date at the earliest. When booking a seat please give the name, date of birth, passport number and nationality of the passengers to the sales clerk.

Discounts
Discount Train Tickets for Journeys between Finland and Russia
Discount tickets are available for children, persons of min. 60 years of age and various-size groups of passengers. The corresponding seat tickets are regularly priced.
Children
Children of 6 to 16 (incl.) years of age are entitled to children's tickets which are priced at 50% of the adults' corresponding tickets. A child under 6 years of age is entitled to free travelling without an own seat, when accompanied by an adult.
Senior Citizens
Senior citizens of min. 60 years of age are entitled to a 30% discount on the travel ticket. A passport shall be produced for confirmation of the age of the passenger.
Groups of Passengers
Two children are considered as corresponding to one adult.
Minigroup
Adults are entitled to a 30% discount travel ticket. Children's reduced fare is calculated as 50% of an adult's travel ticket price. The size of a minigroup may vary from one adult plus one child (max. 16 years of age) up to five adults plus one child. Should the only child in a minigroup cancel the journey, the group loses its right to a minigroup discount.
Groups
Group of two children of one to one adult.
Group of 6 - 24 persons
A group of 6 - 24 persons is entitled to a 40% discount on their travel tickets.
Group of 25 - 35 persons
A group of 25 - 35 persons is entitled to a 50% discount on their travel tickets.
Group of 36 persons or more
A group of min. 36 persons is entitled to a 60% discount on their travel tickets.

All prices include seat reservation. Return ticket prices are double the amount of single tickets.

Multi-tickets
Multi-tickets will be removed from VR product range from 1 August 2010.
Multi-tickets may be used until their period of validity ends.
