Wireless internet in Pendolino trains

The wireless internet available in Pendolino Business Class since January is available in all Pendolino compartments on a trial basis. The connection is for the time being included in the ticket price and its use does not require a network password. The trial period lasts until the end of 2010 and during that time experiences on the functioning of the network are collected.

The wireless internet will also be available in stages in InterCity trains. Installation of the equipment will be completed by the end of 2011.

How to use onboard internet:

  • Activate WLAN/WiFi
  • Search available wireless networks
  • Select "VR-junaverkko" network
  • Connection is ready to use.

Internet connection quality may temporarily deteriorate due to, for instance, tunnels, rock cuts or bad weather. VR develops the onboard wireless connection in cooperation with customers and operators.

The onboard wireless internet uses the WLAN network at stations, mobile phone networks and Digita's @450 network. The system automatically selects the best available network.
