Luggage and lost property
Luggage is transported in trains on a self-service basis. It is possible to transport large or heavy luggages in day and night express trains as well as in some regional trains in separate luggage compartments. These trains are marked in timetables with a picture of a suitcase. Luggage carts are available for bags.

Tranport of luggage in long-distance trains
InterCity and Pendolino trains
In InterCity and Pendolino trains luggage can be transported in luggage racks in the trains' vestibules. Transport of bicycles is possible also in InterCity trains, but the bicycle space must always be booked in advance. See below for more detailed instructions concerning transport of bicycles.
Transport of large luggage in express and night express trains
Customers should bring the transported goods to the guard's van and collect them at the arrival station when transporting large luggage and prams. Customers should transfer their luggage to another train themselves when changing trains.
A fee is collected for transport of large luggage in a separate luggage van. Customers can pay the fee to VR station booking offices when purchasing their ticket or to the train's conductor.

Unless the luggage is collected at the arrival station it is taken to the terminus station. VR Ltd has the right to sell luggage which is not collected within three months as stipulated by law on the right of entrepreneurs to sell uncollected goods.
Canoes, kayaks, ski boxes etc. as luggage
Canoes, kayaks, ski boxes and other oversize items can be transported as luggage only in trains with a luggage van and if the transportation, taking into account relevant circumstances, if possible. Transport may not be possible due to e.g. lack of space.
Tranport of luggage in commuter trains
In commuter trains luggage can be transported as hand baggage. There are no separate areas for luggage in trains.
Prams on trains
Transport prams on long-distance and commuter trains free of charge. Ask for assistance for lifting the pram from the conductor.
Long-distance trains
- InterCity trains have spaces for prams. Seats 25 and 26 on the lower deck of the service car are reserved for passengers with prams. The InterCity service car is the number 3 car on the train and on shorter route InterCity trains it is number 2. See location of cars in the train composition chart. - Express and regional trains have space for prams in the luggage van. You have to, however, transport the pram to the van yourself. All Express and regional trains have a luggage van. See train composition charts.
- Railcars have space for prams at the end of the trainset, see railcar.
- Pendolinos have space for prams in the service car which is the number 2 car. See Pendolino train composition chart.
Commuter trains
You can travel in commuter services HSL Area without a train ticket when accompanied by a child at most six years old in a pram. When you travel outside the HSL Area you have to buy a VR zone ticket for the whole journey. Transport of prams is not subject to a fee.
