Information on trains
The train fleet is gradually getting a green look as the trains go through general overhaul. Five double-deck and two single deck InterCity cars with the new colouring are in service at the moment. This year 20 more cars and two Pendolino trains will receive the new colouring. Also the new sleeping cars entering service as of summer 2010 will have the new green look.
The theme of the new coulouring is Finnish landscapes and animals which can be seen when travelling by train. The idea behind the colouring was born from cooperation by VR and The Finnish Association for Nature Conservation to renovate Finnish landscapes.
The colouring on the side of the sleeping cars features owls, the restaurant cars' colouring features bears catching fish in a river and passenger cars' colouring features birds flying over Finnish lakes toward their destination. The colouring depicts renewal and VR and its customers working together for the enviroment.

New sleeping cars
enter service
The first new sleeping cars enter service during the summer. At the end of the summer the green cars will be connected to night trains running between Helsinki and Rovaniemi. Travel comfort in the new cars is better than ever.

Radio onboard trains
Radio earphone service in VR day trains ended in the beginning of June 2010. The service is discontinued due to a small number of users. On double-deck night trains the service is still provided.
Environmental
friendliness
VR's new rolling stock is one factor which increases environmental friendliness. E.g. over 50% of long-distance trains and commuter trains can reuse some of the electricity generated by breaking.
