InterCity2

The InterCity2 trains are a part of VR's basic supply of rail services. Together with the InterCity trains and express trains, they offer business and shopping passengers comfortable journeys between cities and major population centres.

All cars of the modern train are double-deckers. The train only operates non-smoking journeys. The needs of all types of passengers such as persons with reduced mobility, allergic passengers, and travellers with pets are taken into account.

The IC2 train

VR has operated double-deck InterCity cars from 1998 and the first entirely double-deck InterCity2 trains started services in the summer of 2000. VR currently operates 92 double-deck cars.

The top speed of InterCity2 cars is 200 km/h. Current top speeds are raised as the rail network is upgraded.

The trains are marked in timetables with the IC2 sign.

Fares

InterCity2 train fares are the same as in InterCity trains but less expensive than in Pendolino trains. If you book your ticket beforehand the seat reservation is included in the fare.

InterCity2 trains also have a Business class with Business class services in addition to the 2nd class.
