VR zone tickets
VR's zone area is divided into eight zones
In commuter services, for travels beyond the HSL Area (e.g. from Järvenpää to Riihimäki), from the HSL Area beyond its limits (e.g. from Tikkurila to Hyvinkää), or from outside the HSL Area thereto (e.g. from Lahti to Pasila), a VR zone ticket is needed.
VR's commuter services area is divided into eight zones, ranging from A to H. The tickets are priced as depending on the number of travel zones.
Examples:
- It's a one zone journey from Kirkkonummi to Kauklahti (C).
- A two zone journey from Tikkurila to Järvenpää (B+C).
- A four zone journey from Hiekkaharju to Hyvinkää (B+C+D+E).
- A four zone journey from Mäntsälä to Riihimäki (C+D+E+F).
- A three zone journey from Haarajoki to Hyvinkää (C+D+E).
- A three zone journey from Haarajoki to Malmi (B+C+D).

* The minimum price of a discount one-way ticket is €2.60, with the exception of a junior ticket.
Discount tickets cannot be purchased from 23.00 to 04.00 when night services are operated, but discount tickets purchased in advance are accepted.
Junior ticket and discount ticket prices are rounded up to the closest 10 cents.
VR reserves the right to make changes as necessary.

The validity of zone tickets
Within zones A and B (Regional transport, that is the HSL Area), HSL tickets or city internal tickets (not VR zone tickets) are valid in commuter trains.
- Zone tickets are only valid in VR commuter trains and regional trains within Helsinki commuter services
- Within HSL area you travel with HSL area tickets
- VR zone tickets are not valid in A-B zone commuter train journeys
- For example , a HSL ticket is needed when travelling from Pasila to Rekola, and from Tikkurila to Koivukylä, a Vantaa city internal ticket is needed.
Should a journey be made in the zone region aboard an express train, InterCity or InterCity2 or Pendolino train, a long-distance ticket is needed as corresponding to the train type used.
