30 day pass
You can buy 30 day passes for long-distance trains and commuter services in the zone area. With the pass you can make an unlimited number of journeys during one month. The pass entitles you to unlimited travel in the 2nd class on the route and train type specified in the ticket for one 30 day period or one year.

When you travel regularly with a 30 day pass it's a good idea to subscribe online to the Flexi service. When you buy a 30 day pass 11 times you can get the twelfth free of charge. Find out more also on the direct debit service.
Buy long-distance and commuter services 30 day passes at VR station booking offices, sales agents, ticket vending machines and VR Online Shop. Before you use the pass for the first time pick up a VR identity card at a VR station booking office as the personal 30 day pass is not valid without the VR identity card.

30 day pass
- Entitles to unlimited rail travel on the route and train type indicated on the pass. Valid 30 days until the end of the night services on the last day of its validity
- An identity card needed for the pass is issued by VR's booking office. Please bring along a passport photo. Your personal data are to be confirmed by an official identity card
- available for min. 30 days, max. one year
- price of one year ticket calculated as 10 times the price of a 30 days ticket
PLEASE NOTE! A 30 day pass purchased as a commuter services zone ticket can only be used for travel on commuter trains.
When you travel with a long-distance 30 day pass:
- When you travel on a more expensive train type than what your ticket entitles you to, you pay at the station the price of a seat ticket or a train charge of €5 per train type onboard the train. You can travel in a less expensive train type without additional charge but the difference in prices is not refunded.
- The 30 day pass does not include seat reservation. However, trains which are popular with commuters have quota seats for commuters with 30 day passes. The quota seats are not booked for other passengers. View quota seats below.
- If you wish to book a seat when travelling with a 30 day pass buy a normal price seat ticket at a station.
- When you purchase a 30 day pass for a route of at least 500 km it is also valid on all lines.

Flexi service
By subscribing to the service you can buy 30 day passes at VR Online Shop and get the benefits from regular travel.
- You get one 30 day pass free of charge after you buy 11 passes within a year. In order to get the free pass the periods of validity of the 11 passes you have bought must start within a period of 12 months (e.g. if the period of validity of the first ticket you bought starts on 20.2.2006 the period of validity of the 11th pass must begin on 19.2.2007 at the latest).
- The passes do not have to be valid immediately one after another but there may be a total of 64 days within a year between the periods of validity.
- You decide when to buy the next pass and can view previously bought passes on the net.
- The pass is delivered by post (postal charge €2).
Direct debit
- A service in which a 30 day pass is sent to you by post without delivery charges.
- The price of the ticket is direct debited from your bank account each month.
- When you buy 11 direct debited passes you get the twelfth 30 day pass free of charge.
- The pass is only valid together with a VR identity card.
- The price of a connection pass incorporated in the VR 30 day pass can also be direct debited from your bank account. Any connection services incorporated in the pass are charged as per each 30 days period.
- If you are a new customer you should make a direct debit contract at a VR booking office. Buy the first pass at the booking office to also get the VR identity card. Please bring along a passport photo and an official identity card. The following passes will be sent to you by post.
- The pass is not refundable and a lost pass is not compensated.

Connection ticket
- A connection pass, which to be purchased together with VR's 30 day pass, is valid for 30 days in Helsinki region and internal public transport services of munipalities having entered into agreement with HSL. The public transport agreements are municipality-specific.

25% discount on 30 day passes
VR regret the inconvenience caused by the delays to rail services in early 2010. You now receive a 25% discount on 30 day passes purchased in March (the discount does not apply to Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) tickets).
