Pet charges
You may transport pets in long-distance and commuter train pet compartments.
Long-distance train pet charges:
- Flat pet charge €5/pet.
- if you transport two pets in one transport box only one pet charge is collected
- If there are more than two pets per passenger a half-price ticket is charged for the transportation of every additional two pets in addition to a pet charge for each pet
- When you book a seat for your pet: a pet charge + a half-price ticket is required. Use a seat cover.
- In night train sleeping-cars: an car end compartment shall be booked when travelling with a pet, pet charge €10, when purchased in advance at the station €8.40.
When you change trains additional pet charges are not collected.
In commuter trains in VR zone area pets may be transported free of charge in pet compartments, guide and assistance dogs may be transported in all compartments.

You can also book a pet space by calling VR Customer Care and then collect the ticket at a ticket vending machine or R-kiosk.
