If you plan to travel on a long-distance train you can buy a long-distance train ticket that includes a connection by commuter train.
Long-distance train tickets
Long-distance train types are priced according to their service level which means that Pendolino tickets are the most expensive and regional trains the least expensive. Seat reservation is always included in the price of the ticket, except on regional trains, when purchased in advance.
You can buy an open ticket for the return journey, if you do not know the date of the return trip.
The train ticket does not entitle you to get off the train at an intermediate station and continue the journey later. If you wish to get off at an intermediate station please purchase a ticket for each leg of the journey.
