Open ticket for return journey
An open ticket for the return journey may be purchased for a specific train type without seat or berth booking. A seat or berth may be booked at a station booking office or by telephone by calling the number on your ticket and stating the ticket booking number. An open ticket is valid for 15 days from the date of purchase.
Should you choose a train type other than the one specified in the open return ticket the relevant price difference is charged or refunded by a station booking office.
- A seat or berth may be booked for a train of the same type or a less expensive train, by telephone; no price difference is refunded.
- Seat or berth booking for a more expensive train type shall be operated and the price difference paid at a station booking office.
- You may board the train with an open ticket without seat booking but VR cannot guarantee the availability of a seat. An open ticket entitles to travel in a train of the same type or of a less expensive type, without any additional charge. Should a more expensive train type be used a €5 train charge is collected per train type.
