Ticket vending machines

Ticket vending machines sell commuter and long-distance train single tickets - including discount tickets and 30 day passes. You can also collect tickets booked in advance or purchased online from VR Online Shop at a ticket vending machine by entering your order number.

New ticket vending machines to be introduced

VR introduces new ticket vending machines from January 2010. The number of ticket vending machines is doubled from current levels. In the future 30 stations which previously had no ticket sale will have a vending machine.

The first new machines will be installed in Helsinki and Pasila after which installations start in other localities and are scheduled to be completed during spring 2010.

The majority of functions and ticket range of ticket vending machines remain the same as at present. The exterior features of the ticket change but will retain the same information as before. In the new ticket vending machines you can pay your tickets with chip bank and credit cards, American Express and VR Travel Account cards. For the time being new HSL Travel Cards cannot be loaded at the new machines.

Ticket vending machines at railway stations

Ticket vending machines are located either at station outdoor premises with operating hours of 05.00-23.45 daily, and in the station building whereupon they are accessible during station opening hours (not, however, 23.45-05.00).
