Change and cancellation of train tickets purchased in the Online shop
An e-ticket purchased in the Online shop and printed by the customer may be cancelled by telephone, via Internet, by post or in a station booking office, prior to the departure of the train indicated in the ticket. Such a ticket may be transferred to another person.
A train ticket purchased in the Online shop and picked up in a railway station or delivered by post may be changed or modified in a VR station booking office.
A cancellation commission is charged for the cancelling of a train ticket.
Cancelling of e-ticket
Unused e-ticket may be cancelled prior to the departure of the train as indicated in the ticket
- The cancelling is made by completing an the e-ticket refund form available on VR's web pages and in railway stations.
- The completed form shall be submitted to VR via Internet, by post or in a station booking office, prior to the departure of the train as indicated in the ticket.
- The cancelling may also be made by calling VR Online shop customer service, 0307 20903, Mo - Su from 7 to 22 hrs, prior to the departure of the train as indicated in the ticket.
- No refunding is operated if the unused e-ticket is not cancelled in time, e.g. having missed the train is no valid ground for a refunding of the ticket price.
- A cancellation commission of €8 is charged.
- Should the purchased ticket have been paid via a web bank, the sum to be refunded is paid to the same bank account specified by the customer.
- Should the purchased ticket have been paid by credit card, the sum to be refunded is paid via the same means. Correspondingly the VR Travel account is credited in case it was used as means of payment.
- The refunding is operated within two weeks from the date of departure of the train as indicated in the ticket.
E-ticket transferred to another person. An e-ticket may be transferred to another person provided that the new holder of the ticket meets the original conditions set (e.g. a student ticket may only be transferred to another student). For such a transfer, the customer shall call the Online shop customer service, 0307 20903 at the latest, one hour before the departure of the train.
Should a train have been cancelled, the refunding in full of the train ticket is also possible in a VR station booking office within up to two weeks from the date of departure of the train.
Train tickets picked up or delivered by post or purchased in the Online shop
May be modified or cancelled in a VR station booking office as follows.
Prior to departure of train:
- When changing to a train of the same type, no commission is charged; when changing to a train of a more expensive category, the price difference is charged.
- Correspondingly when changing to a train of a less expensive category, the price difference is returned.
After departure of train:
- New seat/ berth ticket may be purchased; when boarding another train without a new ticket, a €5 commission is collected as per train category.
- The ticket is valid two weeks as a travel ticket without seat/ berth booking.
An entirely unused ticket picked up in a station booking office, a ticket vending machine or delivered by post is refunded with a cancellation commission deducted therefrom. Refunding is operated within 2 weeks from the date of departure of the train and during the validity of a travel ticket.
A cancellation commission of €4 is charged before the departure of the train and €8 after the departure of the train. Refunding in exclusively operated in VR station booking offices. VR Travel account purchases are refunded to that account. The postage (€2) of a ticket sent by post is not refunded.
