Changes and cancellations
Terms concerning ticket changes and cancellations depend on what type of ticket you wish to change or cancel. The time of cancellation is also important. The cancellation fee for tickets cancelled before the journey is smaller than for tickets cancelled after the journey. Read more on the terms of cancellation of each ticket type in this section.

Ticket payment
You can pay for tickets e.g. in cash, most bank and credit cards and VR Travel Account card. You cannot pay with Visa Electron onboard trains. Check the accepted means of payment on the Ticket payment page.

Delays and compensation claims
You can apply for compensation on a long-distance train journey if the train is delayed by at least an hour. Compensation is paid also on damaged luggage.

When you travel to Lapland and back by car-carrier train please read carefully the terms and conditions of car transport. Check loading sites beforehand and decide if you wish to drive the car yourself into the car-carrier wagon or have VR personnel do the loading for you.
