Wireless Internet in trains

VR has introduced onboard wlan on additional trains. VR onboard wlan is now accessible in addition to Pendolinos on double-deck sleeping cars and on all InterCity trains. Passenger feedback has been very positive.

Cars with VR onboard wlan will be equipped with stickers. The wireless Internet is accessible free of charge and access does not require a password.

E-mail

You can read and send e-mail via the onboard wireless Internet.

1. Use webmail through your Internet browser. Go to your webmail website (for instance https://mail.google.com).

2. You can also use e-mail with another e-mail software if your service provider offers that service. The servers for inbound and outbound mail are set in the e-mail program settings. VR Onboard Wireless Internet does not have a dedicated e-mail server which means that you have to use your e-mail service provider's servers. Sending of e-mail is possible only if you have enabled SMTP authentication and SSL encryption. Without authentication your service provider does not allow access to its e-mail servers from networks of other operators (such as VR in this case). The settings are accessible on your service provider's website.
