CarTrain Packages
Travel on night trains in
a seat or in a sleeping compartment in a one, two or three person compartment.
Some night trains have car-carrier wagons so you can transport your car with
the inexpensive CarTrain package.
The updated CarTrain
package includes the travel ticket, a sleeping berth and car transport. In
addition, you can book a compartment for yourself or your group.
CarTrain package prices vary according to the travel date.
You can book a
CarTrain package also online in
VR's Online Shop.
Please note!
When your train departs please wait for the conductor to arrive in your
sleeping compartment. This way you ensure that the reservation remains valid.
Children on night trains
Children aged 10 and younger travel free of charge on night trains with a parent in the same sleeping compartment if a berth is not booked for the child. Please note the following matters before departure:
• Tell the ticket office clerk that a child will be travelling when purchasing tickets so that a free of charge train ticket may be printed.
• Train tickets entitling a child to travel free of charge are available at ticket offices and by contacting VR Customer Care by phone.
• If you buy CarTrain packages or your night train tickets from VR Online Shop you may book free of charge tickets for children to the same sleeping compartment at the abovementioned sales points.
• Children under the age of 6 do not need train tickets.
If you have purchased night train tickets or CarTrain packages after 14 September and the tickets include a trip for a child aged 6-10 you will be refunded the part of the child's trip with travel vouchers the next time you buy tickets.

How to pay

Tickets bought at other purchasing locations must be paid when reserving
when - the booking is made less than 24 hours before the train's departure - the booking is made more than 60 days before the train's departure. In other cases the tickets must be paid within 24 hours of booking. If
the reservation is not paid within the deadline the reservation is cancelled. |

Changes
|
You can make changes to the CarTrain package at ticket offices
seven days before the journey, the service charge is 10% of the ticket price.
If you have purchased the ticket from VR Customer
Care you can make the changes also by phone (service charge is 10% of the
ticket price). |
Cancellations
|
You
can make changes to the CarTrain package at ticket offices seven days before the journey, the
service charge is 20% of the ticket price. If you haven't paid the ticket yet or you have purchased the ticket from VR Customer Care you can also cancel it by phone (cancellation charge 20 % of the ticket price).

Registration
If you travel often on the car-carrier train you might consider
registering with
Veturi, VR's loyalty program. When you have registered as a customer your
contact information and car details are stored in the system and your next
purchase of a CarTrain package goes quickly and easily. You also get first information of services and special offers and customer benefits.

CarTrain packages purchased in advance
If you buy a CarTrain package earlier than 60 days before the journey you get an order confirmation on your journey. Change the order confirmation to a train ticket with seat booking before the journey.
To get your tickets
- call VR Customer Care and the tickets will be sent to you as an e-ticket.
- collect tickets at a ticket office or ticket vending machine.
- you get tickets purchased also from VR Online Shop if you have made your purchase as a registered customer and were logged in into the Online Shop. If you login to VR Online Shop again you can access the CarTrain package in your bookings. Select a booking from the list or search for it with the order number. Click on Send and select the desired delivery method on the delivery method page.
