As a student you get a discount on train tickets if you have a student union student card approved by VR or the VR and Matkahuolto joint student card.

You get a student discount when travelling on long-distance trains

• Basic and Flexible tickets
• 10 journey multi-tickets
• Group tickets

As a student you can also travel with an inexpensive Advance ticket which can be purchased online 60-7 days before the journey. A student discount is not, however, granted on Advance tickets. A student discount is also not granted on season tickets, pet or bicycle charges, sleeping car tickets or car-carrier tickets.
