Basic ticket
The Basic ticket is the most common ticket for Eco Class. Buy Basic tickets in VR Mobile, online and through all other ticket purchasing locations.

The Basic ticket is valid on the date and train indicated on the ticket.
- You can, however, change the date and time of traveling (not the route) or cancel it entirely before the journey for a cancellation
fee.
- Discounts are granted on the Basic ticket to passengers entitled to a discount.
- The Basic ticket can be used, in addition to adults, by juniors, students, pensioners and persons in military and non-military service who receive a discount on the trip.
- With a Family ticket one child travels with seat booking free of charge with an adult.
- When travelling with a Basic ticket assistants of the disabled may travel free of charge.

| How to pay |
VR Mobile, Online Shop, ticket vending machines or onboard the train
to the conductor: the Basic ticket is paid during the purchasing transaction. Tickets bought at other purchasing locations: - If train tickets are booked 60-1 days before the journey they must be paid within 24 h. - If train tickets are booked less than 24 h before the departure they must be paid 30 minutes before departure at the latest. - If train tickets are booked less than 30 minutes before the departure they must be paid upon booking. If the reservation is not paid within the deadline the reservation is cancelled. |

| Discounts | A discount on a Basic ticket is granted to passengers entitled to a discount: pensioners, juniors, students, the disabled and conscripts and persons in non-military service. | Changes | Basic tickets may be changed at ticket offices or by phone form VR Customer Care before the train's departure or 24 hours after the train's departure at the latest (service charge €5/change). The difference is not refunded when changing to a less expensive train. |
| Cancellations | Basic tickets may be cancelled before the train's departure at ticket offices (cancellation charge €10). If you have not yet paid the tickets or have paid it by phone to VR Customer Care, you can also cancel it by phone (cancellation charge €10 for paid ticket). |
