Long-distance train ticket changes and cancellations

The terms of train ticket changes and cancellations change from 14 September 2011. Check out in the table below the terms and conditions of the tickets.

Basic ticket
Basic tickets may be changed at ticket offices or by phone form VR Customer Care before the train's departure or 24 hours after the train's departure at the latest (service charge €5/change). The difference is not refunded when changing to a less expensive train.

Basic tickets may be cancelled before the train's departure at ticket offices (cancellation charge €10).
If you have not yet paid the tickets or have paid it by phone to VR Customer Care, you can also cancel it by phone (cancellation charge €10 for paid ticket).
Flexible ticket
Flexible tickets may be changed free of charge at a ticket office or by phone via VR Customer Care before the train's departure or 24 hours after the train's departure at the latest. If a Flexible ticket is changed for a more expensive train type the difference in prices is charged. The difference is not refunded when changing to a less expensive train.Flexible tickets may be cancelled before the train's departure or 24 hours after the train's departure at the latest at a ticket office (cancellation charge €10).
If you have not yet paid the tickets or have paid it by phone to VR Customer Care, you can also cancel it by phone (cancellation charge €10 for paid tickets).
Advance ticket
No changes.
No cancellations.
Group ticket
Group tickets may be changed at a ticket office or by phone via VR Customer Care 7 days before the departure of the train at the latest in a ticket office, the change fee is 10% of the fare.

Group tickets may be cancelled 7 days before the departure of the train at the latest in a ticket office, the cancellation fee is 20% of the fare.
If you have not yet paid the tickets or have paid it by phone to VR Customer Care, you can also cancel it by phone (cancellation fee 20 % of the fare).
CarTrain journeys
You can make changes to the CarTrain package at ticket offices or by phone via VR Customer Care seven days before the journey, the service charge is 10% of the ticket price.

Sleeping carsYou may change a Basic ticket which includes a berth or sleeping compartment at a ticket office or by phone via VR Customer Care before the train's departure or 24 hours after the train's departure at the latest. The charge for changing the ticket is €5 per change. The difference is not refunded when changing to a less expensive ticket.
You may cancel a Basic ticket which includes a berth or sleeping compartment at ticket offices before the train's departure or 24 hours after the train's departure at the latest. The cancellation charge €10. If you have not paid for the ticket yet or you have purchased the ticket from VR Customer Care you can make cancellations also by phone. A €10 cancellation charge for paid tickets is collected also in these cases.
