Seat Tickets
Agencies and offices selling international train tickets also book any eventually wished seat, couchette or sleeping-berth tickets. For some trains seat booking is obligatory, and as a rule advance seat reservation is recommended. An obligatory supplement shall be purchased in advance for some trains (IC/ EC/ ICE/ TGV, etc.).Couchette and sleeping-berth booking
For overnight travel, couchette or sleeping-berth booking is your best option. A couchette is less expensive than a sleeping berth, and the price is the same irrespective of the length of the journey. A couchette compartment is generally designed for 4 to 6 passengers, and e.g. in a 6 person compartment the price of a couchette is about €14.
In couchette-cars, ladies and men normally travel together. The seats are adjusted to beds for the night, and the car hostess provides for a blanket and cushion. For couchette-cars and sleeping-cars, an appropriate couchette or berth ticket is regularly mandatory.

RailPlus is a European discount pass designed for everybody. Its holder is entitled to a 25% discount on international cross-border rail journeys in 30 European countries. The pass is valid for one year.
